I want to start Warhammer but im a terrible painter?

Warhammer looks AWESOME, and I plan on starting Warhammer 40k. However, I am a terrible painter! What should I do!? I really want to start but I dont want to spend all the money and my army looks terrible! What should I do?I want to start Warhammer but im a terrible painter?
You can practice! Buy some cheap used miniatures for the army you want to use and have a try. You only need 3 or 4 colours on most miniatures with a bit of effort on their base to make them look okay on the tabletop. As long as the colours are neatly applied they will look fine. You should also try get in a few games, with borrowed miniatures or whatever before committing to it, it can look cool but the game isn't that fun for a lot of people.

In addition to the above, adding wash(es) over your paint or using a dipping method is an easy way to bring out the highlights. Dipping is the process of putting on basic colours then putting the miniature in wood stain and then shaking off the excess, leaving it shaded and highlighted. Army Painter is a "specially formulated" product for this, they have a lot of videos and guides out. Washes are applied with a brush, some people paint a single wash over their miniature and others use it on different coloured parts. I've even seen some people who just paint black wash over the raw plastic or metal of a miniature to make features stand out and it clear what they are on the table top.

If you have a really unsteady hand or just can't get it right then it can be really frustrating I know, especially as it costs so much money to get an army in the first place. In that case bare in mind many people play with unpainted armies or half-painted, or just undercoated. Also most of the painted armies out there aren't anywhere near the quality of what you see on official sites or places like coolminiornot.com, they just don't show them online.

There is no shame in having someone else paint your army for you, though some hit to the wallet. You can probably find someone who will apply base colours so that your army looks presentable for around an extra 50% of the total cost. For detailed painting you are looking at much more.

If you are set on Space Marines, then you are in luck as they are the easiest models to paint due to their large armoured areas. There are so many guides out there too. A single colour, which can even be spray painted on with the right paint, a complementary wash applied over the top, weapons painted differently and a little bit of contrasting colour to rims of shoulder pads, knee guards and pretty much the same for vehicles and you have something that looks nice.I want to start Warhammer but im a terrible painter?
Could buy a pre painted army online, you could give a go at it and improve your skills, or you can actually just not paint them, the last can only be done in friendly games normallyI want to start Warhammer but im a terrible painter?
There are some sites where you can commission someone to paint your army. My son used to do that.
